In Italy, a Russian tourist explained with the police opera phrases
Opera singer Maria Ostroukhova (Russia) in social networks said that after the robbery in Venice explained with police officers who did not speak English, in Italian phrases from famous operas.
On holiday in Venice (Italy) her passport, credit cards, money were stolen.
The policemen in Piazza San Marco did not speak English, so Maria decided to explain herself to them with phrases from operas. The first words she took from the works “Coronation of Poppeia” and “Orpheus and Eurydice”.
“I decided to continue on Orpheus and Eurydice, especially since in my view the words Eurydice and passport were interchangeable. "Che faro senza mio passaporte? Dove andro senza mio passaporte? (What will I do without a passport?) Where will I go without a passport?
The guards realized that the tourist was robbed, and showed the singer photos of local pickpockets. In one of them, she recognized a thief – a girl in a hijab confronted her on one of the bridges. "Ecco la donna maledetta! Vorrei smembrarla! (That damn woman!)
On the same day, the Russian woman received the documents back. To thank the police, the singer again turned to the operatic phrases: “Senor knight, I bless you for your kindness and affection!”
