Luxor hosts first Russian tourists after six-year absence
Luxor Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee solemnly hosts first Russian day trip from Hurghada to visit tourist and archaeological sites in Karnak, Luxor and West Bank temples.
The first tourists were greeted with roses and gifts to celebrate their arrival after a 6-year absence.
Tourism expert Mohamed Osman, head of the Luxor Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee, said the committee had received 250 Russian tourists. All guests were presented with souvenir papyri and flowers "to celebrate their return."
Luxor expects next month to see the return of a large number of countries that refrained from visiting Egyptian tourist cities during the past period.
Luxor benefits 80% from the volume of tourist visits by Russian tourists to Red Sea resorts.
Visitors increase purchasing power and ensure the “restoration of restaurants, hotels and bazaars and the achievement of real recovery of workers in the tourism sector”.
