UAE temporarily closed beaches due to oil spill: what tourists need to know
Due to the oil spill, the UAE imposed restrictions on bathing: by October 28, they operated on more than 35 beaches and coastal areas in Umm el Quwain, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah and Ajman.
Where the beaches are closed:
- Umm el Quwain: All beaches have been closed since October 23 (temporary).
- Ras Al Khaimah: Restrictions since October 24
- Sharjah: City beaches and private beaches are closed at the Coral Beach Resort Sharjah, Sharjah Carlton Hotel and Occidental Sharjah Grand.
- Ajman: Ban on Ramada Beach Hotel Ajman, Wyndham Garden Ajman Corniche and Bahi Ajman Palace.
At the same time, hotel guests can use the beach area and infrastructure - swimming pools, restaurants, etc. In some places, there are no visible traces of pollution: some hotels are located in protected bays, where petroleum products did not enter.
What tour operators offer:
- trips to open beaches;
- selection of alternative accommodation (resettlement without additional payment - not always);
- assistance with cancellation of reservations without penalties.
If the rest without the sea does not suit, it is worth contacting the representative of the tour operator - he will help you choose an option.
