Vietnam imposes 14-day quarantine for all foreigners, including Russians
“As decided by the Prime Minister, Vietnam ceases issuing all types of entry visas for 30 days from March 18. Also, from March 18, all passengers arriving from the United States, all European countries, including Russia, and Southeast Asia, will be sent for a 14-day quarantine.
From 00:00 on March 18, all Russians entering Vietnam are forcibly placed in quarantine. Visa-free entry rules are maintained. But in fact, the visa-free regime for Russian citizens loses its meaning, since they can stay in the country without a visa for no more than 15 days.
The Embassy urges citizens of the Russian Federation wishing to return to Russia to promptly contact Russian missions abroad (the Embassy in Hanoi, Consulate General in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City). “Where there is still the possibility of leaving for Russia, we strongly recommend using it, regardless of the modes of transport and transfers.”
According to Vietnamese media, the possibility to enter the country is only for its citizens and qualified foreign experts and workers who must provide documents on the absence of coronavirus. The travel ban will not affect diplomats.
Earlier, Vietnam stopped issuing visas to citizens of Iran, China, South Korea, Italy, and later - the Schengen countries and the UK.
Tourists with reservations to Vietnam will be offered to rebook to Thailand or transfer travel dates.
