Air carrier VIM-Avia calls for help

On September 23 and 24, VIM-Avia recorded flight delays of 2 hours or more on many flights. The IC of the Russian Federation instructed to conduct an inspection on this fact. VIM-Avia is currently in 10th place in terms of transportation volumes in Russia.

Also Domodedovo, the carrier’s base airport, refuses to work with VIM-Avia on debt. Work with the airline over the weekend was extended only after a letter of guarantee for payment of fuel from Tatneft, the fuel is delivered until the end of Monday. VIM-Avia again needs sources of funding, its funds are not enough.

Currently, the carrier owes Domodedovo about 500 million rubles. Last week, VIM-Avia appealed to the authorities with a request to provide state guarantees for loans. Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich submitted an appeal to the Ministry of Transport for consideration.

The Ministry of transport and Rosaviatsiya began to prepare for the possible departure of the carrier from the market. Rosaviatsia was instructed to work out the route network of VIM-Avia with other airlines to take out passengers in case the situation develops according to the worst-case scenario. Regulators may limit the depth of a carrier’s ticket sales and recommend that charter passengers investigate departures before departing for the airport.
