Visas to Europe for Russians will become more expensive
The website of the European Parliament published information that the European Union is going to simplify the process of issuing short-term visas to citizens of more than 100 countries (including Russia), increasing their cost.
A new visa code should be created for those travelling to European countries for up to 90 days. After its entry into force, visa applications can be submitted six months (instead of three (as now) and up to 15 days before travel.
According to MPs, the innovation can help the development of tourism. People who make frequent trips and have a positive visa history can wait for an increase in the period of multiple entry visas - from 1 year to 5 years. This measure should help reduce the costs of processing applications from respectable travelers.
The document says that the fee for issuing a visa will increase from 60 to 80 euros "with exceptions for some countries." Some federal media have concluded that the price of visas for Russians will be the same – now they pay a reduced consular fee of 35 euros.
