Return of non-refundable tickets. Added one opportunity

Non-refundable tickets can be returned if a close relative becomes ill. The State Duma plans to study a bill that regulates the problems of relations between passengers and airlines.

The State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction decided to adopt amendments to the Air Code of Russia, they will facilitate the procedure for returning air tickets.

The state Duma is going to discuss a bill that will allow you to return tickets purchased in low-cost companies, in case of illness of one of the close relatives of the passenger.

Proponents of the amendments say that it often happens that a person has purchased inexpensive non-refundable plane tickets, but before leaving a loved one falls ill.

The passenger cancels the trip, but now this situation does not allow to return the ticket and return the money for it. If the law is adopted, if a close relative is sick, it will be possible to hand over a ticket to the airline and get the money spent on it.

According to the current legislation, the air carrier is obliged to compensate passengers for the cost of non-refundable tickets three times: if the flight is delayed by more than 4 hours, in the event of the death of a close relative of the passenger and, if a relative with a ticket for the same flight, fell ill.

In any of these situations, the passenger must notify the carrier through the call center or by e-mail about the refusal to travel, and inform the reason. Within 90 days, you must send documents confirming the reason for the refusal. The refund takes place 30 days after the airline receives the relevant request.
