Issuance of Schengen visas will be faster, but more expensive

The EU is going to modernize the policy of issuing visas: they will be issued more mobile and for a longer period, but their cost will increase. The information is reported in the EU representative office in the Russian capital.

The changes will affect the decision time on visa issues from 15 to 10 days. Travelers who frequently travel on tours will be able to obtain multiple-entry long-term visas, and it will grow from 1 year to 5 years.

The EU representatives say that the issuance of single-entry visas will be able to be carried out at the external land and sea borders under temporary, seasonal schemes under serious conditions. Such visas shall be valid for a stay of not more than seven days only in the territory of the Member State issuing the visa. Under the updated rules, the consular fee will increase from 60 to 80 euros.”
