Swedish journalist shares impressions of traveling on Russian trains
Swedish journalist Anna-Lena Lauren wrote an article in which she shared her impressions of traveling by train in Russia.
According to Lauren, most of all on trains in Russia, she is impressed by fellow travelers, because they will always help with luggage, treat food and enjoy talking on a variety of topics.
Anna-Lena, in an article for Dagens Nyheter, clarifies that in planes flying in Russia, the situation is the opposite. On board airliners there are often conflicts, up to fights and scuffles, people do not respect their neighbors, and may not listen to the instructions of the crew.
“They keep talking on the phone while the plane takes off or lands. They throw back the chair as much as possible. And you have to fly with someone else's head on your lap. They start taking things off the shelves while the plane is still moving.”
According to the Swedish, things are different on the railway. There is absolute order, and four passengers share a small compartment, without conflict.
Anna-Lena Lauren is known for her work on Russia. In 2008, the book “They have something wrong with the head, these Russians”, in 2009 – “In the mountains, everyone is equal.” The Caucasus and its peoples.”
