Jos Museum

1 Muzeum Street, Jos, Nigeria

About the company:

The Jos Museum was established in 1952 by British archaeologist Bernard Fegg. It is the largest center of ancient culture in Nigeria.

There are extensive collections including terracotta figurines and pottery representing the complex and broad culture of the village of Nok, made about 2,500 years ago. The museum also pays great attention to the history of architecture and tin mining. The exposition of wood carvings from different regions of the country, including sculptural works of the last century, is of great interest.

The Jos Museum is part of a complex that includes the Museum of Traditional Architecture, the Museum of Mining and the Museum of Ceramics, as well as a magnificent zoo with a wide variety of animals, reptiles and birds. Visitors can stroll through the complex along the reconstruction of the old city wall of Kano, see the magnificent mosques and taste traditional Nigerian food in open-air restaurants.
