Hanseatic Quay Bruggen
Norway, Bergen, Vå gsallmenningen
Description:
Hanseatic embankment in the city of Bergen is one of the top attractions. Today it is included in the list of UNESCO sites. In the 14-16 centuries, the embankment served as an urban artery and confirmed the greatness of the city during the Middle Ages. From this place, trade and import/export of goods were monitored. Along the embankment, three-storey houses were built, painted in different colors. Some of them are wooden, some of them are stone. Animal heads and figures of people on the facades of buildings symbolize various crafts. Their purpose is to help uneducated sailors find their guild. Also on the embankment there are museums, shops, restaurants, art studios, boutiques. Nearly a million tourists visit the waterfront every year.
You can get to Bergen by plane, train, bus, car.
