Monument to King Haakon VII

Bergenhus, Bergen, Norway

Description:

King Haakon Seven was one of the famous Norwegian kings. Residents revered him very much, and they decided to immortalize his memory in this monument. For 52 years King Haakon ruled Norway, glorifying himself as a wise, just, reliable and literate king, his government contributed to the prosperity of Norway. He opposed Nazism and refused to submit to the Nazis in World War II. Most likely, this is the reason that the monument represents the king in military uniform with binoculars. The sculpture conveys his human charm and strength of spirit, calmness and determination at the same time.
