Whale Center Museum

8438 Stø, Andenes, Norway

About the company:

If you ever find yourself in the Norwegian city of Andenes, be sure to visit the local Whale Center. This is the only place in the world where you can arrange an unforgettable whale safari in the northern waters of the Arctic Circle!

The whale center is located on two floors of a cozy building. The first is the main expositions telling about the habitats and gastronomic preferences of whales. But the main exhibit is a huge skeleton of a sperm whale, which was thrown on these shores long ago. The bones of this modest specimen in length exceed 25 meters, making you think about the size of large individuals. On the second floor there is a pleasant cafe where you can rest after moving and in front of the most interesting.

The Andenes Whale Center is not only a museum, but also a research center that monitors the whale population. As part of this activity, tourist outings at sea are organized, which are known throughout the world as “whale safari”.

On a small boat, you will be taken to the very edge of the shelf, where the bottom abruptly goes to the depth and the whales are the most expanse. Standing on the deck, you will see how slowly and majesticly the back shows from the depths and a huge tail falls into the water, raising many splashes. In addition to whales in these places you can often see killer whales and dolphins. Of course nobody gets killed! Three hours of sea walk next door to such giants will leave you with the most enthusiastic impressions of this harsh land.
