Eidsvolls Square
Karl Johans gate 24, Oslo, Norway
Description:
Eidsvolls Square is a park in central Oslo that is located between the gates of Karl Johan and Stortingsgat from Stortingsbügningen to the gate of Roald Amundsens. There are statues of famous Norwegians. At the very gate of Roald Amundsens stands a statue of Brindjulf Bergslin Henrik Wergeland, it opened on May 17, 1881 with a speech by Bjørnstierne Bjørnson. In front of the Storting is a portrait bust of Christian Michelsen (1980) by the sculptor Per Palle Storm, and in front of the Stortingsgata is a statue of the President of the Storting C. J. Hambro (1994) by the sculptor Chell Grette Christensen.
In connection with the anniversary of the 2014 Constitution, a monument to King Christian Frederick, created by Christian Blistad, was unveiled in front of the Storting.
An interesting fact is that a very part of the Eidswalls Square is often mistakenly called Studentterlunden.
