Wallberg Tower

Valbergtarnet

Description:

The old Wallberg Tower is famous not only in Stavanger, but throughout Norway. It stands proudly among the city's wooden houses. Its height is 27 meters. The tower was built in 1850. At first it served as a watchtower. The fires were monitored because most of the houses were wooden. The tower stands on a hill, so it is visible from different points of the city. Several fires destroyed the city, the worst of them was the fire of 1684, when it was even thought that it made no sense to rebuild the city. But the city was revived, the tower is its historical monuments. Inside it today operates a museum, visiting which you can learn about the history of the tower, its guards. From the observation deck there is a magnificent view of the city and the harbor. You can get by sea, using the cruise program, or by car.
