Historical Dubai - Museum
Description:
The first settlement in the history of Dubai dates back to the 3rd millennium BC, when the territory was inhabited by nomadic tribes and was under the control of the Sassanids, after which control passed to the Umayyads, who brought Islam with them. For thousands of years, it has been engaged in fishing, building ships, mining sea pearls, trade, agriculture, growing date palms, breeding goats, camels and hunting. The first mention of an urban settlement dates back to 1799 and was founded by the Bani Yas clan. In 1833, Dubai became an independent emirate. In 1929, Japan learned how to produce artificial pearls and this negatively affected the economy of Dubai. Therefore, Sheikh Saeed has decided to turn Dubai into one of the leading re-export centers in the world. In 1966, oil deposits were discovered in Dubai, and in 1969 oil production began, which led to the rapid development of Dubai into a modern business center.
We will visit the museum in Al Fahidi Fortress and the cultural and ethnographic village, the official residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum of the ruler of Dubai (1912-1958) and historical sites that provide a great opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Dubai and learn about the life of Bedouins and pearl craft.
Then we will walk through the Old Dubai market, which has its own unique charm, immerses you in the atmosphere of Arab trade, as it was several centuries ago, with its noise and custom of bargaining. We will sail on an Arab boat to the other side of Dubai, an area called Deira. There is a spice market, textile shops and of course a gold market where you can take beautiful photos.
The tour starts at 9.00 a.m.
