Ancient Settlements and the Grand Canyon of Oman

During this tour we will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient history of Oman and enjoy the views of the picturesque mountain road leading to the highest geographical point of the country - Jebel Shams, which means Mountain of the Sun.

The first stop will be in the city of Nizva. In Nizva is one of the oldest markets, where you can find both silver and clay products, and dates, spices, vegetables, fruits, and halva. We will be able to visit the ancient Nizva Fort with its impregnable citadel, as well as an informative museum. After lunch at the local restaurant we will drive along the picturesque foothills, where there are ancient villages with original architecture of clay and stone. A walk among residential and partially abandoned old houses will leave deep impressions for a long time, because we are immersed in the Middle Ages, and people there live an ancient original way of life. After walking through the mountain oases, we will continue our journey to the Grand Canyon of Oman and the Mountain of the Sun. This peak has such a name for a reason, because sunsets and sunrises paint this mountain in unusual colors. There are many trekking routes in the area and tourists will have the opportunity to take many unique photos near the edge of the canyon.
