Oh. Clipperton Island

Coral atoll in the east of the Pacific Ocean, belongs to France, the overseas special administrative-territorial entity of France.

The island was named in memory of the English sea robber John Clipperton, who supposedly sailed past the atoll on a barque in 1705.

Now the island is uninhabited, the French authorities are studying the possibility and options for placing a spaceport on its territory. Now on the island are scientific expeditions to study the nearest flora and fauna and industrial production of tuna.

There is a grove of coconut palms on the atoll. The climate is tropical, there are practically no fluctuations in temperature day and night, the average annual air temperature is + 26 C. The rainy season lasts from May to October.
