First Declaration of Independence of Panama

Description:

The first (if you consider the timing of events) in the series of days of independence of Panama
The day of the first declaration of independence is the first (if you take into account the timing of events) in the series of days of independence of Panama. On November 10, 1821, the people of Los Santos, one of the two largest cities in Panama, declared independence from the Spanish crown. This day in the holiday calendar of Panama is called the Day of the first Declaration of Independence.

After 18 days, the inhabitants of the second city – Panama – also declared their independence from Spain – this holiday became known as Independence Day. On November 3, 1903, Panama declared its independence from Colombia, on which day Panamans celebrate Independence Day.

Every year, all citizens of the country take to the streets to celebrate the Day of the first Declaration of Independence. This holiday is often timed to a colorful festival - thousands of black residents of Panama dress up in masks and costumes made of feathers of exotic animals and arrange mass festivities.

Merry performances in a medieval fort tell the Panamanians a story of rebellion. Actors depicting red devils are Spanish conquerors. Fighters for justice perform in democratic jeans and to the sounds of shamanic drums defeat the invaders. The ritual ends with pagan dances. All guests of the festival take part.
