Defensores del Chaco Stadium
Description:
The famous stadium Defensores del Chaco is a huge sports complex, and is the national stadium of the country. All the main matches of the Paraguayan national football team are held in this stadium.
The stadium was completed in 1917 and was originally called Puerto Sakhonia. During the Chak War, which lasted from 1932 to 1935, the stadium was a meeting place, and recruits were recruited. In honor of those soldiers who defended the honor of the Chaco district, the stadium was renamed Defensores del Chaco.
Many international tournament finals took place at the stadium. The city team "Olympia" has repeatedly won in this sports arena. Paraguay also took first place in the final match for the Copa America at this stadium.
Having survived three reconstructions, Defensores del Chaco is able to accommodate about 65,000 spectators. In addition to sports events, numerous concerts and shows are held here.
