Silvio Pettrossi International Airport
Description:
Silvio Pettrossi International Airport is a major transport hub of South America located in Luca, a suburb of Paraguay's capital Asuncien. Previously, the airport was named after the former president of Paraguay, Alfredo Stroessner Matiaud, a statesman and military figure who ruled the country from 1954 to 1989. The airport has the international classification IATA and ICAO.
ASU is a three-letter unique identifier assigned to the airport by the International Air Transport Association, which allows you to identify and send baggage to Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, and not to any other airport. SGAS means that the airport is mainly engaged in international transportation of passengers and baggage.
Silvio Pettirossi International Airport serves as the headquarters/home airport for Transportes A reos del Mercosur S.A., formerly known as Mercosur TAM and Lineas Aereas Paraguayas.
Currently, Silvio Pettirossi International Airport accepts only international scheduled and charter flights. Unfortunately, direct flights between Europe and North America are under-represented. It is here that passengers of these destinations are forced to fly to Buenos Aires or Sao Paulo and take connecting flights there. The domestic service is the only flight operated by Regional Paraguaya Lineas Aereas.
