Maryatskaya Street

Gdansk city centre, Poland

Description:

Maryatskaya Street is one of the most beautiful streets of Gdansk, built up with ancient houses and practically unchanged since the Middle Ages. The street is located in the historical center of the city and is considered one of the main tourist attractions of Gdansk.

Maryatskaya Street stretches through the city center, starting at the famous Maryatsk Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and resting on the medieval Maryatsky Gate. The street is a magnificent example of ancient buildings and architecture - with beautiful facades of houses, richly decorated roads and a mandatory porch near each mansion. Previously, very rich people lived on Maryatskaya Street - merchants, bankers and jewelers, and today there are shops and souvenir shops.

Also, Maryatskaya street is known for merchants of amber, who launched a lively trade in their goods here. In local shops you can buy beautiful amber jewelry and souvenirs created by the most virtuoso masters of Gdansk. Rarely does a tourist miss this opportunity.
