Katowice-Pyžovice International Airport
Description:
Katowice-Pyžovice Airport is the international airport of Poland, which occupies the third largest passenger traffic in the country, located near the city of Katowice. Until 1966, it served as a military air base. The airport has two passenger terminals, one of which was built in 1994. You can get to the airport by public transport - regular bus routes from Mežencice No. 17 and Bytom No. 83 and 85.
The length of the runway of the airport is 1500 meters, and the width is 30 meters, which gives it the opportunity to receive medium-sized aircraft. The Boeing 737 is the largest aircraft to land here in 2005. The following services are available at the airport: parking, medical center, restaurants, shops, tourist bureau, conference hall, post office and a cozy waiting room.
In 2007, the newest video surveillance system was installed at the airport, which allowed to increase the level of security of passengers several times. In the future, local authorities plan to expand and restore the terminals.
