Barbacan Bastion

Krak w Barbican

Description:

The Barbican is a round-shaped defensive bastion made of brick. It is designed to attack enemies during an attack on the city. Barbakan is depicted on the coat of arms of Krakow.

Initially, the bastion was surrounded by a huge moat filled with water, and you could only get into the city through it. Over time, it has been rebuilt many times. So, in 1498-1499, it was modified due to the threat of invasion by Turkish troops, and in the early XIX century, the city authorities turned it into a city landmark that anyone can visit.

Inside there are expositions that will tell in detail about the history of Barbican, outside there are alleys, along which it is pleasant to walk at any time of the year.
