Poland, Malopolska Voivodeship, city of Krakow
Description:
The Skolchanka Reserve is located on the southwestern tip of the city of Krakow - the capital of the Malopolska Voivodeship of Poland. Previously, this territory was occupied by the village of Tynets, which gave the name to the Belyansko-Tynets forest, part of which is a reserve. Not far from the reserve flows the river Vistula.
This area was granted the status of a reserve in 1957 as a result of a decision taken by the Ministry of Forestry of Poland. The area of the protected area is about 37 hectares. There are more than 500 species of insects, including rare species. The reserved forest is mainly represented by pines, fir, beech.
On the territory of the reserve there is one of the tourist routes leading to the Benedictine Abbey, which is a cultural monument of the Malopolska Voivodeship.
