John Paul II Krakow-Balice International Airport

Description:

This airport is one of the largest in terms of both the number of passengers and operating flights in the whole of Poland, second only to Warsaw airport in these parameters. In the future, it is possible to expand, since almost 8 million people live in the Krakow region, which creates favorable conditions for such development.

The name of the airport was given in honor of Pope John Paul II, who lived for many years in Krakow and repeatedly visited Balitz as pontiff. Until 1968, Krakow-Balice Airport was a military base. In 1972, the first passenger terminal was built here, and in 1993 another terminal for international airlines opened. The registration hall is located in the left wing of the airport building on the first floor, and the arrival hall is on the right. On the second floor, after passing passport control, passengers can sit in a cafe and spend time shopping in duty free stores.
