Potocki Palace
Stanislawa Stasica 3, Lublin, Poland
Description:
The Potocki Palace, located in the center of the Polish city of Lublin, is now an abandoned building. It was built in the form of a horseshoe made of gray stone in the classical style in the XVIII century, for the Polish diplomat Jerzy Potocki.
For several decades, a two-storey palace with an Italian-style courtyard and two side wings served as the residence of the Potocki family. At the end of the XVIII century, the palace was transferred to the treasury of the city and served as a barracks, warehouse, prison, which operated for almost 30 years. During these years, the luxurious mansion was deprived of internal and external decor. In 1918, the State Central Police Department of Lublin was opened in the building of the Potocki Palace, which after World War II was transformed into a police department. From 1994 to 2010, the Potocki Palace belonged to the Lublin Catholic University.
