Lublin-Syvidnik International Airport

Description:

Lublin-Syvidnik Airport is an international airport located 10 km from the city of Lublin. Its construction began in autumn 2010, and the official opening is scheduled for December 17, 2012. The new airport will have an illuminated runway 1200 m long and 50 m wide, as well as a hangar and weather station. Initially, it will be assigned the first category of the landing system.

Construction of the Syvidnik airfield began in 1935, and officially opened on June 4, 1939. It was used for training purposes by the pilot school. In 1949, the Polish government decided to build a small hangar next to the airfield. Since 1956, the first helicopters have been installed and repaired here.

In 2000, the government decided to build a new airport here, but this plan was not implemented until 2010, when investment began. The Lublin-Syvidnik airport complex will include two terminals, a parking lot, restaurants, a medical center and a huge waiting room.
