Elka Lake

Poland, Warmina-Mazur Voivodeship, Elka Povyat

Description:

Elka Lake is located in the Elka Povyat of the Warmian-Mazurian Voivodeship of Poland. In the middle, the lake has a narrowing, dividing its waters into two unequal parts - the smaller northern and the larger southern. On one of the islands there is a medieval castle, which can be reached by passing a picturesque stone bridge. In ancient times, the castle, like all the surrounding lands, belonged to the Teutonic Order.

The shores of the lake are usually low and treeless. Along the eastern shore of the lake there is a recreation area with small hotels. These places are popular locals as a weekend resort, and every year attract more and more tourists from neighboring countries.

The lake, whose maximum depth reaches 56 meters, is one of the ten deepest lakes in Poland. On the shores of the lake are agricultural farmland and renting a small boat, you can often see grazing sheep or goats.

On the shore of the lake is the city of Elk, from the embankment of which offers an amazing view of the lake.
