Monument to a young rebel

Podwale, Warszawa, Poland

Description:

The monument to a young rebel, located in the Polish capital, Warsaw, is dedicated to children who participated in the Warsaw uprising of 1944. It was installed near the Defense Walls on the Basement Street in 1983.

The author of the monument is the Polish sculptor Jerzy Yarnushkevich. He designed it back in 1946, and before the monument was erected, the sculpture of a small rebel was known in the country as small figurines. The bronze monument to the young rebel, mounted on a low pedestal, is a boy of 6-8 years old who is dressed in a large helmet for him, on which a ribbon of white and red color is attached - a symbol of the Polish flag. A small town guard holds a rifle. It is believed that the prototype of the little hero was the son of a nurse named Curlyashka.
