Presidential Palace

Poland, Warsaw, Krakowskie Suburb, 46/48.

Description:

The Presidential Palace is the residence of Polish rulers, the largest palace in the country. Initially, the palace was built by the great hetman Stanislav Konetspolsky in 1643 according to the project of the court architect Constantino Tencallo. The decoration was made in the style of Genoese residences and with the first Italian garden in Warsaw.

In the XVII - XVIII centuries, the palace often changed owners, until in 1818 it was bought by the Polish government and began to be used as the residence of the viceroy of Poland. In the following years, the building was almost completely rebuilt in the style of classicism, only the first floor was preserved in its original form.

In the XIX - XX centuries, the palace was also repeatedly repaired and reconstructed. Currently, the Presidential Palace performs certain state functions. Since 1993, it has been inhabited by Polish presidents, and since 2010, the palace has been used only for business purposes.
