Warsaw

Prospect "Krakov suburb"

south of Zamkova Street

Description:

Krakow suburb is one of the most popular tourist routes of Warsaw – there are so many attractions that a walk along this beautiful avenue can take more than one hour.

"Krakovsky suburb" together with Nova Svyato street and Uyazdovsky alleys forms the famous Royal Road. The avenue starts at Castle Square and stretches south towards Krakow, linking the Old Town with the modern centre of Warsaw.

A walk along the Krakovsky suburb completely replaces a full-fledged excursion: here are the world-famous Warsaw University (aka Kazimirov Palace), the Church of St. Anna, the Dzekank dormitory, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Bristol and European hotels, monuments to Adam Miscavige (sculptor K. Godebsky), Prince Jozef Poniatovsky and Nikolai Copernik. The author of the monument to the Polish astronomer is the great Danish sculptor B. Torvaldsen. One of the main attractions of the Krakow Suburb is the Church of the Holy Cross, in the wall of which an urn with the heart of the great Polish composer Friederik Chopin is walled.

In 2006-2008, the avenue was reconstructed, since then passenger cars are prohibited here - only taxis and buses can ride along the street, and wide sidewalks are made for pedestrians. You can relax from the walk on cozy benches or in one of the many restaurants that hospitably receive guests of the Polish capital.
