Castle Square in Warsaw

Plac Zamkowy 4, Warszawa, Poland

Description:

Between the Royal Palace and the Old Town lies the Castle Square. The square has a triangular shape, on the south side it is bounded by the Krakow Gate and the fortress wall. In 1644, a column of King Sigismund III was installed on the square.

In 1818, the Krakow Gate and part of the fortress wall were demolished, but the wide street, which originates at the square and runs to the south, retained the name of the Krakow suburb.

The main attraction of the square is the Royal Castle, its construction dates back to the XIV century.
