Warsaw-Okenze International Airport

Description:

Frederik Chopin Airport is the largest airport in Poland, located in the Warsaw area and serving about 50% of all air passengers in the country. Its construction began in 1933 and lasted 12 years. During the Second World War, it was completely destroyed, as military operations took place on its territory between Polish and German troops.

In 1969, the airport was rebuilt and a new international passenger terminal was commissioned, serving about 1 million people a year. Flights within the country were carried out from a building erected on the site of a pre-war terminal. In 1992, a new terminal was opened with a capacity of 3.5 million passengers per year. In 2001, the airport was named after Frederick Chopin, a famous Polish composer.

Nowadays, Frédéric Chopin Airport has two runways with a length of 2800 m and 3690 m, intersecting in the form of the letter "X". It also has three terminals and an open observation deck.
