Aveiro

Aveiro - in the arms of canals and lagoons

Description:

Aveira is often called the “Portuguese Venice”. The Portuguese themselves prefer to call the city simply Aveira, or the capital of Arte Nova (modern), the land of canals, lagoons, salt replicas. Aveir should be examined slowly, without looking at the clock. The city is attractive and captures us completely. It has its history, its architecture, its art. It is the custodian of gastronomic traditions, which, incidentally, have monastic roots. In the local bakery, we will be able to observe the process of making Ovos Moles - soft eggs: these are traditional pastry sweets Aveiro.

Unique natural biotopi lagoons serve as a shelter for water birds, fish and animals. You will see the salt mines, where sea salt is extracted by the old traditional method. The Portuguese call salt Ouro branco, white gold.

And how about without walking along the canals of Aveiro on typical moliseyru boats, which used to be used to collect seaweed, but today we, tourists, ride on them. We will also make a small walk on Aver.

Lunch will go to an unusual, beautiful fishing village, which is located on the peninsula. It is also one of the beautiful beaches of Portugal for water sports, as in addition to the Atlantic coast, the peninsula also has a river channel Mira Ria de Aveiro.

After lunch we will visit the museum at the Vista Alegre porcelain factory, which is prominent nationally and internationally. The Portuguese Association of Museology awarded the Vista Alegre Museum the honorary title of “Best Museum of the Year” and it received awards in 2017 in the categories “Cultural Merchandising” and “Museum Art Work”. The factory has an Outlet store where visitors have the opportunity to purchase porcelain and crystal at an exceptional price.

You will leave Aveiro with the desire to return here again.
