Excavations in the Valley of the Kings
Description:
You will have to go to the “Valley of the Kings”. This is a place where there are more than 50 large mounds, in which the leaders of the Tagar tribes are buried.
The group will head to the Barsook Log. In this place a few years ago was discovered a huge, monumental mound about 4-5 centuries BC.
The culmination of the tour will be the Big Salbyk Kurgan. According to ancient legends, this is the “road of spirits”, it led the souls of the dead through a ridge of hills to the sunrise in the “upper” heavenly world.
From the Salbyk mound, tourists go to Lake Ugulkol to another burial. This is the Uybat Chaatas, a burial ground from the 3rd century BC to the 7th-8th centuries AD. During excavations almost a century ago in these burials were found portrait masks of plaster and terracotta, wooden carved sculpture and much more.
After inspecting the excavations, return to Abakan.
