Description:
The most popular excursion in Khakassia! Anyone who has not visited the Salbyk mound has not been to Khakassia!
The Great Salbyk Kurgan, located in the Valley of the Kings, is one of the most majestic and mysterious monuments of Southern Siberia, a kind of apotheosis of mound construction in the territory of Ancient Khakassia. Archaeologists have established that the mound was built in the 3rd century BC. The first mention of the Salbyk Kurgan was made in 1739 by the famous scientist Miller, who claimed that the Salbyk mound is a proof of the power and wealth of the former Tagar kingdom.
On the left bank of the Krasnoyarsk reservoir, near the village of Ust-Abakan, rises the ancient and mysterious mountain Kunya (Kun-Tag - Mountain of the Sun). At the top of the mountain is an ancient fortress, which offers a stunning view of the Yenisei valley. Mount Kunya is a grand monument of rock painting, located in Khakassia. Kun-Tag is a mountain of the sun, a cult mountain of worship of the sun god, it is sacred to the Khakas. The height of the Sun Mountain is more than 400 meters – it is a huge natural fortress. The ancient fortress has been used for thousands of years. Small, only a few tens of meters in length, a section of the wall cuts off the cape with a level ritual platform. On the rocky cliffs of this cape is the famous Podkuninsky scribble.
