Tharpig Fortress

Khakassia, Ordzhonikidzevsky district, slope of the top of Tarpig mountain, 4 km from Kobyakov ulus.

Description:

The fortress of Tarpig is located on Mount Sarat on the bank of the White Jus River. In the 9th-12th centuries, the fortress consisted of three rows of defensive structures, now almost nothing remains of its walls. Tourists are not often here, even few locals know how to get to the ruins of the fortress. Despite its small fame, it is an extraordinary, very picturesque place, with untouched nature, where you can get in touch with the history and culture of your ancestors.

The name of the fortress comes from the Khakass word "Tar-Pig", they say that this was the name of the local leader who defended himself here from the Tatar-Mongols. The first line of defensive structures was the main one, it accounted for the main blow, the second is located parallel to the first and is located inside the fences, the third can be found in the southeastern part of the fortress.

You can get to the place by car, for this you need to follow the asphalt road from the village of Kopievo, then, near the turn of the river, turn left from the highway and go along White Jus. On the bank of the river near Tarpiga there is a Tatar-Mongol burial ground, as well as Tashtyk crypts, they can be found in several rows of vertical memorial steles.
