Watermelon monument
Description:
The watermelon monument, located next to Abakan (Khakassia), is an unusual monument, well visible when approaching the R411 highway.
An impressive round blue pedestal with a bright cut “metal berry” of stainless steel is installed near the highway.
The region became famous for its excellent harvest of watermelons, which are now exported to many other countries, so the choice of such topics for the next attraction has become quite obvious and symbolic.
Local authorities decided to perpetuate the striped berry as a sign of honor. Black-emerald peel and juicy bright red flesh with natural-looking grains of black color invariably attract the attention of numerous tourists who are happy to be photographed against the background of the monument.
