Locomotive-monument L-3168

Description:

In the Siberian city of Abakan near the railway station, an unusual monument of a bygone era is installed - Locomotive L-3168. Previously, it stood on a pedestal near the railway museum, however, the city authorities in 2008 decided to move it to the railway station.

This type of locomotive was developed and released after the end of the Great Patriotic War by the famous designer L.S. Lebedyansky. By the way, the letter L locomotive was awarded in honor of the designer who created it.

The locomotive was a heavy freight trunk train operated throughout the Soviet Union.

The installed monument reminds all the people who came to see it about the difficult and dangerous everyday life of railway workers during the war, as well as that it was steam locomotives of this type that actively helped restore the post-war devastation in the country.

Access to the monument is free to inspect it, you need to get to the railway station on the railway station street.
