They say that nothing soothes a person as the sight of frolic dolphins. In Sochi, sometimes dolphins swim to the shore, even allow them to play with themselves. The only dolphinarium in Sochi is located in the open-air resort town of Adler. The Dolphinarium building and arena were built and commissioned on 30 December 1997. The pool in which the performances take place has a diameter of 2 m, a depth of 6 m, and a capacity of 800 seats. It is a branch of the Utrish Dolphinarium, the main research base of which is located in the village of Maly Utrish - on the coast between the cities of Novorossiysk and Anapa. The dolphinarium promotes scientific knowledge about marine mammals. The dolphinarium gave its first presentation on December 30, 1998. To this day, trained animals: the white whale Zephyr, the sea lion Timothy and funny dolphins amuse both adults and children, combining artistry with an amazing ability to understand and feel a person. They, like experienced artists, make dizzying pirouettes in the pool, draw pictures themselves, run on water, spraying you, playing ball and much more. Dolphins are the smartest creatures, and pinnipeds have innate flawless coordination of movements. There is nothing special to train them - everyone knows how to themselves, inexperienced viewers believe. But this, of course, is a profound misconception. Behind the apparent ease of communication between man and animal hides the titanic work of a sea animal trainer who devoted himself to a profession that is rightfully considered one of the most difficult in the world. Under the guidance of the specialist, various species of marine mammals are performed: sivuchi (northern sea lions), beluga dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, which are brought to perform from a research station. If you are lucky, you may even be able to swim with dolphins. After completing the program, everyone can get acquainted with the artists and take pictures with them, as well as buy souvenirs. The performance lasts 45 minutes and begins at 11:00, 16:00 and 18:00. According to everyone who saw this performance, it is a spectacle that causes children’s delight. Even adults.
