Alatyr Museum of Local History

The Alatyr Museum of Local Lore has become a true collector and custodian of interesting materials, documents, historical values related to the past of Alatyr. The uniqueness of the exposition of the museum lies in a large number of authentic documents and objects presented in it, in an abundance of various exposition material, in professionally decorated interiors, recreating pictures of the life of the old city.

The exposition contains materials covering the history of Alatyr since its inception until the 1950s. Visitors can get acquainted with the model of the old fortress city, see authentic photos of the Alatyr churches and monasteries at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries, learn about the stay in our city of the Razin and Pugachev detachments, admire the items sold in merchant shops and shops of pre-revolutionary Alatyr. The museum contains materials about outstanding countrymen: S. Erza, A.I. Sudaev, A.N. Krylov and others.
