About the company:

Brief historical information about the monument: In the center of the ceremonial, western facade of the Assumption Monastery of Alexandrov is the main entrance - the Holy Gate with the gate church of Fyodor Stratilat. The temple was built under Tsar Fedor Alekseevich, as indicated by the ancient antimins. The consecration of the church took place, as evidenced by the temple-created cross, in 1682 in honor of Fyodor Stratilat, the holy warrior-intercessor, patron of military exploits. External description of the monument: The main - the western entrance to the monastery is marked by the device of the Holy Gate and the gate church of Fyodor Stratilat above them. The total volumetric-spatial composition of the building consists of three clearly expressed quadruples (the middle sub-rise), the upper parts of which occupy the church premises, and the lower ones are cut with arched spans. The Holy Gate (the first tier of the building) is made in the form of a rectangular three-span arch with a wide arch passage in the middle and smaller arched passages on the sides, one of which is the right one, was later laid. On the sides of the arches on the western facade, semi-columns are arranged, paired near the middle arch, with simple capitals and bases, which are a decorative moment, carrying out a facade vertical division and emphasizing a three-part structure. On the western side, in front of the central arch, a semicircular platform is arranged in several steps: on the smooth field of the walls above the arches of the spans, ceded niches-kiotas are made. The three quartet of the church (the main volume and two chapels), which are an extension of each of the three parts of the Holy Gate, are rectangular in plan, low, vaulted, with narrow slit-shaped windows on the west facade and ordinary in size on the east. The middle part (the main volume) of the church is raised correspondingly to the higher average volume of the Holy Gate. Above each four is placed on an onion cupboard on slender small drums. As in the first and second tier of the building, the decor is focused on the western front facade. The narrow window openings of all three parts of the temple are framed by an arcature belt identical to that which runs along the top of the walls. The shape of the church windows and wall openings also echoes. Thus, this building does not fall out of the overall artistic image of the fence. It is a part of it, somewhat elevated and expanded. After the main volume wall is completed by two semicircular profiled kokoshniks, the corners of all volumes are fixed and marked with pilasters. The roof of the middle four is four-sided, side - three-sided. The holy gate in all parts is made of brick on a lime mortar. The foundation is not visible. The walls outside are whitewashed on grout, inside - on plaster. On the rectangular windows of the church that enter the intramonastery facade, there are simple metal bars in the cage, there are no bars on the narrow front windows. The frames in all the windows are ordinary wooden. The entrance door to the right laid arch of the gate, in which the stairs to the second floor are arranged, simple wooden, single-floor, modern. The roof of all volumes is iron, painted green, like the bulbs. In the main passage arch preserved medium wooden double gates, made of oak boards, fastened by metal forged large details. From the second external bivalve gates of this arch, only hinged fists remained. In the left passage arch also preserved two-leaf boardwalk wooden gates with overhead metal details. The floor in the passage arches is lined with white stone multidimensional slabs, among which there are old, very small. In the left arch, a white stone is laid out for the drainage of water. The interior of the gate church is modest. The windows are arranged in deep niches with slopes and formworks, the ceilings are vaulted, the rooms are high. The walls and ceilings are whitewashed on plaster, the floor in the main volume and the porch is brick “in the Christmas tree”, in the altar – wooden. The vaults are fastened with metal rods. No stoves. Steam heating has been carried out. In the walls of the main volume there are niches. The stairs leading to the second floor are brick with wooden railings. An interesting example of the design of the main entrance to the monastery with the Holy Gate on the first floor and the gate church on the second floor. The three-part frontal construction of the temple (altar, main volume, porch) in the form of the same type of volumes with vaulted rooms and arcature decor are typical for the architecture of the 1670s - 1680s. In the overall composition of the ensemble, the building is part of the monastery fence, only raised and expanded. Perestroika and loss: The left passage arch of the Holy Gate is laid, in which a staircase is arranged.
