The Church of the Godly Icon of the Mother of God

Vladimir region, Alexandrov, Red Lane, 2

Description:

The Church of the Bogolyubsky Icon of the Mother of God is located in the southern part of the modern city and stands on the slope of a small hill.

The construction of a brick church in the city cemetery ended in 1800, the chapels at the refectory were built in 1829 by order of merchants A.M. Kalenov and F. Baranov.

The temple is plastered, whitewashed and is a rather interesting example of a temple in the style of mature classicism with separate motifs of pseudo-Gothic. Rectangular in terms of volume, the temple is stretched from north to south, from the east to it adjoins the same width of the altar ledge. From the eastern part there are lowered side parts of the altar. From the west there is a wide, wide temple, refectory of the same height.

In the middle of the XX century, the bell tower was lost, built anew at the beginning of the XXI century.

In Soviet times, the temple was one of two in the entire Alexandrovsky district, where services were performed.
