Church of Seraphim of Sarov
Russia, Alexandrov, St. Station, 12
Description:
The Church of Seraphim of Sarov was erected in pseudo-Russian style on the site of an old chapel in Alexandrov in the early 20th century. The temple was consecrated in 1905 by Bishop Nikon of Vladimir and Suzdal in honor of the Monk Elder, the great saint.
The building was located on the territory of a large station complex. The brick church was decorated with carved decor, elegant kokoshniks. During the Soviet era, the temple underwent serious changes: the cupolas and part of the decorations were dismantled, the interior was completely redesigned for other needs. The building has long housed shops and a dining room.
Today, the newly restored, painted and consecrated church is again open for worship. Its main shrine is a piece of the holy relics of the miracle worker.
