Monument at the necropolis of the blockade of Leningrad
Russia, Vladimir region, Alexandrov, Likoush grove near Lake Dichkovo
Description:
The cemetery of Leningraders who died during transportation from besieged Leningrad by rail in 1942-1945 is located in the grove of Likoush near the Dichkovsky Lake. The railway organization of the city of Alexandrov at the burial site of Leningrad immediately after the war put a small obelisk with a five-pointed star at the top in memory of these people.
And in 1995, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, near the old monument to the siege of Leningrad, on the site of the necropolis, where about 3 thousand Leningrad residents are buried, a sculpture was installed - the head of a Russian woman, which symbolizes both the mourner and the victim of the war at the same time. At the opening of the monument came representatives of the Association of blockades.
At first, they wanted to make the monument in the form of a broken canvas, but decided that the option with a Russian woman is more suitable for the embodiment of the idea.
