The Cathedral of the Trinity of Life Original
Vladimir Region, Alexandrov, Museum Passage, 20
Description:
The current Cathedral of the Trinity of Life (formerly the Intercession Church) was built in 1508-1513 by Basil the Third. This is a one-headed four-pillar temple with Sergievsky chapel. The structure was repeatedly reconstructed and rebuilt, wall painting was repaired, new frescoes were painted on top. In the 20s of the last century, the cathedral was closed, and its opening took place in the middle of the 20th century after restoration.
An ornamental belt with three stripes and crosses divides the church walls into two tiers. Inside the wall, the base and pillars are lined with white stone, and in the intervals between the pilasters bricks are inserted - this combination is a sign of the antiquity of the cathedral. The southern entrance has a gate from the Nizhny Novgorod Sophia Cathedral, which in artistic terms are of great value. Even after more than six centuries, the images are clear and fresh. The interior of the cathedral contains a large number of unique icon paintings, among which there are excellent examples of the 16th and 17th centuries. Also here you can see ancient book salaries, ancient icons, crosses, lamps, bowls and other interesting exhibits.
