The beginning of the museum in VNIISIMS was the tradition of collecting varieties of grown crystals, including unique and with various defects. All of them later became the basis of the exhibition fund "Museum of man-made stone", functioning since 1964.
The exhibition has two sections: a collection of synthetic crystals and products from them and a collection of natural stone gems and rocks. The exposition tells about the methods of crystal synthesis for use in the fields of high technology and jewelry production. Here are exhibited crystals grown in VNIISIMS for the first time in the world and crystals of the XXI century.
“Museum of man-made stone” is a unique museum of its kind. There are exhibits that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world, since only VNIISIMS has the technology of their cultivation.
In the museum you can buy jewelry, souvenirs made of artificial crystals and natural stone gems.
