Alexandrov

Alexander Railway Station

Description:

The railway station in Alexandrov was opened in 1873. A new brick building instead of the former wooden one appeared here in 1903. Then the complex of the station included the chapel of Seraphim of Sarov, the signal building, the luggage compartment, storage facilities, the village of railway workers.

The symmetrical building of the station is made in an eclectic style with the predominance of forms of classicism. It has one-story side parts and a two-story middle with triangular pediments and a rust. The pond building - a perfectly preserved octagonal tower in the eclectic style - is the main vertical dominant of the complex. The next interesting building is the signal communication station, which was built in the late 19th century in the Art Nouveau style. And the largest station building is the locomotive depot - a semicircular brick building forming an arc with paths inside.

Alexander railway station is now operating with fully preserved functions complex, as well as an outstanding monument of architecture.
