Collector's Day
Description:
The need to transport and protect money and valuables arose simultaneously with their appearance at the end of the IX century in Kievan Rus. The main traders and treasurers in ancient Kiev were the Prince and the boyars. They provided the protection of trade caravans by the forces of their squads.
Since then, money has been transported either by its owners or by people they specifically hired and trusted. And whenever there was enough money, they were accompanied by armed men ready to protect them from robbers.
So, in the XVI century, the trade caravans of Sourozh merchants were accompanied by an impressive guard and were headed by a “head guest” – a representative of the richest merchant stratum who had special confidence in the guest corporation.
With the emergence of the need to collect cash from trade enterprises, other organizations and deliver them to banks, its kind of collection was distinguished from the general function of collecting and transporting money, and with it the profession of collector arose.
Collection (from Italian incassare, put in a box) - collection and delivery of cash, foreign currency and other valuables to the bank's operating cash desk.
The growth of the banking sector of the economy inevitably entails an increase in cash turnover. Emerging problems in the transportation of valuable goods contribute to the further development of collection services.
